Boston Backspace

Boston Backspace is designed after the Boston Type and Stereotype Foundry’s Original Typewriter found in their 1889 Foundry Specimen book. The original font was monospaced and designed for typewriter use. The Original Typewriter was never digitized, making Boston Backspace the first modern version of the Boston Type Foundry's typewriter font.

Boston Backspace is a semi-monospaced font designed for long-form reading. While primarily geometric in form, certain glyphs include more organic details, giving Boston Backspace its unique character. The combination of round and sharp corners in the design of the serifs gives the font a modern feel while referencing the ink bleed from the type slugs hitting the paper.
